The administrative building of the Men’s Missionary Union of the Nigerian Baptist Convention located at the premises of the Baptist Men’s Centre was on Saturday, the 13th of August, 2022 commissioned by the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Dr Israel Akanji. Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Akanji stated that the building was a testimony of God’s faithfulness to the men of the Convention. He read from Psalms 127:1, explaining that except God builds the house, our efforts will be in vain.
Also speaking at the event, the National Director, Dr Festus Akinola gave a brief history of the building, explaining that the building was the vision and initiative of the 7th National MMU President, Deacon Michael Oyegbile who, he said laid the foundation for the building in 2019. Dr Akinola stated that despite the amendments to the initial plan of the building, the outbreak of COVID-19 and other incidents, the structure was completed to the glory of God.
Responding at the commissioning ceremony, Dr Mrs Abosede Oyegbile appreciated the President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Dr Israel Akanji and the National President of the Baptist men of Nigeria, Dr Soye Asawo for the honour done her late husband by naming the edifice after him. She particularly noted the invaluable support received from Dr Dawari George.
Among the notable dignitaries who graced the occasion were past and current National officers, NEC members, Deacons James Akala and Dr Dawari George.
