Fans hoping to watch Lionel Messi lead Argentina against Lamine Yamal’s Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final are facing extraordinary ticket prices, with some last-minute options reaching as high as $60,000.
The huge interest surrounding Sunday’s final has caused prices on resale platforms to rise dramatically, as supporters look to secure a place at a match featuring the defending champions and a Spain team aiming to win their second World Cup trophy.
The demand for tickets has intensified ahead of one of the most eagerly anticipated finals in tournament history, with the contest bringing together one of football’s greatest established figures and one of the sport’s most exciting young talents.
On Saturday morning, FIFA’s official ticket resale platform showed the cheapest available ticket priced at $6,411.25. The seat, located in a mid-level section behind the goal, was quickly purchased as fans rushed to secure entry for the global showpiece.
By later in the day, the most affordable tickets available had increased significantly, with seats in the upper corners of the stadium being offered for prices close to $10,000.
Supporters wanting a better view of the action were required to spend even more, with tickets closer to the pitch reportedly costing around $16,000. Meanwhile, premium hospitality options were listed at prices reaching $60,000.
The surge in demand was also reflected on other resale websites, including SeatGeek and StubHub. Upper-tier tickets were available from around $10,000, while some lower-level seats were being offered for prices approaching $35,000.
The attraction of the final has been driven largely by the presence of Messi and Yamal, two players representing different generations of football.
Argentina captain Messi, widely considered among the greatest players in the history of the sport, is attempting to guide his country to another World Cup triumph after their success in 2022.
Argentina are aiming to win their fourth World Cup title and become the first nation since Brazil in 1958 and 1962 to successfully defend the trophy.
Spain, however, will arrive with ambitions of their own as they seek to claim a second World Cup crown following their historic victory in 2010.
Messi will appear in his third World Cup final, having previously reached the decisive match in 2014 and 2022. The 39-year-old has played a key role in Argentina’s campaign in 2026, scoring eight goals and creating four assists.
The forward is also competing with France’s Kylian Mbappe for the Golden Boot award, while hoping his performances can help Argentina achieve back-to-back World Cup victories.
The final will also renew a fixture that was expected to take place earlier in the year. Argentina and Spain had been scheduled to meet in the Finalissima in Qatar in March, but that match was cancelled because of the conflict in the Middle East.
