A potential violent clash was narrowly averted in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Nigeria during the chapter congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, following a dispute over the composition of ward and chapter executive lists.

Tension escalated after allegations that the State Chairman of the APC, Stephen Ntokekpo; the Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Eno Ibanga; and a member of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwem Imo Ita, met in Uyo to draw up a fresh list of executives without consulting key stakeholders from Mkpat Enin.

The move reportedly contradicted an earlier resolution reached by party leaders in the area to retain the existing ward and chapter executives for another four-year term, citing their loyalty and performance.

A Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan has nullified the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on 15 November 2025.

In its ruling, the court barred members of the Tanimu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) from parading themselves as national officers of the party.

The court further held that the Caretaker Committee led by Mohammed Abdulrahman and Senator Samuel Anyanwu remains the only recognised National Working Committee of the PDP, pending the conduct of a valid national convention.

It will be recalled that Tanimu Turaki, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, emerged as the PDP National Chairman after a tense and highly controversial national convention in Ibadan.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the deadly attack on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, where armed bandits killed the Vice Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and abducted 25 students. The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Ememobong, on Monday, 17 November 2025, described the incident as another grim reminder of the escalating insecurity confronting Nigerians, blaming the Tinubu-led APC administration for what it called a persistent failure to prioritise citizens’ safety over political considerations.
