Four Sylva’s aides still languishing in detention, says spokesman

The Special Assistant on Media and Public Affairs to Chief Timipre Sylva, Chief Julius Bokoru, has cried out that four aides who had been arrested and domestic workers of his principal are still languishing in detention.

Bokoru, in a statement titled, “Detention of Sylva’s aides: A call for reason, humanity and due process,” noted that Mr Paganengigha Anagha, the first to be arrested, was still kept in detention.

Chief Timipre Sylva, former Minister of State for Petroleum, has written to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), asking the commission to give him a date for appearance. 

The former Governor of Bayelsa State, in a letter addressed to the chairman of the commission, frowned on the move by the EFCC to declare him wanted over an alleged $14.8 million fraud.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Petroleum Resources and ex-Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, wanted over an alleged $14.8 million fraud.

According to a statement by the EFCC, Sylva is being sought in connection with a case of conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257 — funds said to have been invested by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) into Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for the construction of a refinery.
