Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja has declined to issue a warrant necessary for the transfer of his brother from Sokoto Prison to Abuja for an appeal record settlement.

Speaking to Daily Post on Thursday, Prince Emmanuel stated, “This summons requires Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to appear on November 28 at the Federal High Court in Abuja to settle records related to his appeal filed following the November 20 judgment.

The Ijaw Diaspora Council (IDC) has condemned the life jail term handed down to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The IDC noted that while the court’s decision upheld the rule of law, it criticised the judgment as inequitable and politically motivated, saying it failed to address broader issues of justice and self-determination in Nigeria.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on count one of the terrorism charges filed against him by the Federal Government.

Delivering the ruling on Wednesday, Justice James Omotosho held that the prosecution had presented “uncontroverted evidence” showing that Kanu made multiple broadcasts inciting violence and killings in pursuit of his separatist agitation for Biafra.
