A coalition of aspirants in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries has condemned what it described as a “malicious and distracting attempt” to link the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr Mudashiru Obasa, to the peaceful protests held last week over the party’s primaries.

In a worded statement issued on Wednesday, June 10, and signed by prominent party figures, the group insisted that the demonstration was a spontaneous expression of dissatisfaction by aspirants and their supporters across Lagos State.

Former Special Adviser on Health to the Delta State Government (Olorogun), Prof. (Mrs) Rukevwe Ugwumba, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing alleged injustice, marginalisation and the controversial conduct of the party’s senatorial primaries in Delta State.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Chairman of APC Uwheru Ward 9 in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Prof. Ugwumba said the distribution of the “dividends of democracy” within the party had unfairly excluded loyal members and supporters who worked tirelessly to build the APC in Delta State.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, John Feh, has called for urgent intervention by both the federal and state governments over the deepening political crisis in Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency, warning that continued inaction could trigger a mass defection of party members to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Feh said the constituency was nearing a critical political tipping point that required immediate and strategic action.
