Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, sitting in Maitama, Abuja, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, dismissed a “no-case submission” filed by a former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, AGF, Chukwunyere Anamekwe Nwabuoku and held that he has a case to answer and should enter his defence in the charges of fraud, levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Nwabuoku is being prosecuted by the EFCC on amended nine-count charges, bordering on money laundering and diversion to the tune of N868,465,000 (Eight Hundred and Sixty-eight Million, Four Hundred and Sixty-five Thousand Naira).

The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Akwa Ibom State Command, has confirmed the death of two awaiting-trial inmates at the Uyo Custodial Centre following an electrical surge caused by a faulty transformer that supplies power to the facility.

The incident, which occurred about two weeks ago, was triggered by an explosion from a nearby transformer. The blast caused a high-voltage wire to snap and fall within the correctional centre premises, resulting in a total blackout and extensive damage to equipment.

Over 2,000 patients benefit from free medical outreach

Over 2,000 patients benefit from free medical outreach

More than 2,000 indigent patients have been billed to receive free medical and surgical care during a humanitarian outreach organised by the Ibesikpo Asutan Organisation California Incorporated.

The weeklong medical mission, which kicked off at ImaBridge Africa Medical Centre, Ibesikpo, Akwa Ibom State, aims to meet the health needs of residents who cannot afford treatment. About 135 patients have already been booked for surgeries.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Project Coordinator, Dr Iniobong Okon Ubon, said the outreach, organised in partnership with the World Surgical Foundation and Ubotex Limited, has been providing free healthcare services for over 12 years.
