Eno receives first batch of state-owned buses

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has received the first batch of 20 state-owned buses out of the 50 ordered by his administration, reaffirming his commitment to building a modern, efficient and affordable public transportation system in the state.

Receiving the buses at the Government House, Uyo, the governor described the delivery as another major milestone in his administration’s efforts to transform the state’s transport sector.

As the Victor Attah International Airport commenced international operations with its maiden flight from Uyo to Ghana, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has described the airport as a uniquely remarkable transit hub and a pace-setter in Nigeria’s aviation sector.

The minister made the remarks on Friday, 2 May 2026, during a brief ceremony held at the airport to celebrate the launch of its first international flight.

Bayelsa State government has inaugurated its own airline following the successful flight of one of its newly acquired aircraft on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 — a milestone Governor Douye Diri described as “historic” for the state’s aviation future.

The ATR-72/600 aircraft, one of the two procured by the state government, departed the domestic wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at 9:30 am with about 50 passengers and crew on board, including Governor Diri. It landed at the Bayelsa International Airport to cheers from residents and dignitaries.
