Bayelsa community Die-Ama laments impact of Nembe-Brass Rd, seeks inclusion in MoU

The people of Die-Ama Community in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have given a one-month ultimatum to the Federal and Bayelsa State governments to include them in the Memorandum of Understanding in executing the ongoing Nembe/Brass Road.

According to the community, they are the most impacted among other communities in the area since the project started.

The Bayelsa Progressives Youth Movement (BPYM), a pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) group, has cautioned against alleged plans by the Bayelsa State Government, in collaboration with some federal figures, to revoke existing surveillance contracts held by loyal members of the party.

The Ijaw National Congress (INC) on Thursday joined the global call for the formal exoneration of Ken Saro-Wiwa and the Ogoni eight of the allegations for which they were convicted and executed.

Prof. Benjamin Okaba, Global President, INC, made the call in his Solidarity message on the 30th anniversary of the execution of the Ogoni nine.

Saro-Wiwa and eight other Ogoni activists, known as the “Ogoni Nine,” were executed by the Nigerian military government in November 1995 following a trial.
